He used to appear from time to time on the program from Washington DC. that he still considered the place home. In addition, he was the True Value Hardware stores spokesman from the 1980s until the early 1990s. He was served alongside Pat Summerall.
in 1992. he got the first lifetime of Ronald McDonald as a commercial for McDonald’s Burger King. He was semi-retired in 1996 and his job was taken over by Al Roker. Scott was his substitute for over 10 years until NBC bought the Weather Channel in 2009 and started using its meteorologists as substitutes.
He announced his retirement from TV in 2015 and Today had a tribute for him on his final day featuring highlights of his career on December 15th, 2015.
