A representative for Mitchell said he had died of a heart attack.

‘It was very hard to believe … The sudden death of an international actor and a bodybuilder, we managed, an honest person, a true friend, my dear friend, a real actor has saddened us deeply,’ said the rep. The family believes he died a natural death, although they weren’t more specific.

Mitchell was best known for his high profile as he started acting at a very young age, and performed alongside tough guys parts like Mel Gibson’s historical epic Braveheart and Ridley Scotts Oscars-winner Braveheart. At the age of 16, Mitchell joined the British Armed Forces, before working as an off-shore oilman and a competitive bodybuilder.

In addition, he got his start as a bodybuilder. The Scottish actor was a five-time World Fitness Federation (WFF) champion and a two-time winner of Mr. Universe, according to his website.

He took up aside as a bodybuilder, which made him competing in Britain’s Strongest Man competition and rose to the top He won Mr. Universe along with numerous World Fitness Federation’s Fitness World Championships.

Mitchell competed for numerous titles, including Britain’s Strongest Man.  He won 5 Masters Mr. World titles along the way, he was given the WWF’s highest honor the Living Legend Award in 2010.

From his acting, he got his big break in 1994 that has shades of Arnold Schwarzenegger. He was cast in “Braveheart” because of his imposing physical presence. He was on to appear in “Gladiator,” “The Planet,” “One Day Removals,” “City of Hell,” “Life on the Line” and “Emmerdale.”
