Michael Estime is a skilled American journalist currently working for WJBK, Fox 2 Detroit as a meteorologist. Previously, he worked for WKYC in Cleveland, Ohio where he served as a weekend meteorologist and weekend co-host on “Live on Lakeside” for four years.

Prior to joining WJ BK Fox 2 news team, he worked at WKYC as the Weekend Meteorologist and weekday co-cost of “Live on Lakeside” in Cleveland for four years. Before heading to Cleveland, he served as the morning, Midday & Noon Meteorologist at WTVQ in the “Horse Capital of the World” – Lexington, Kentucky. While working in Kentucky he assisted his weather team earns the title of “Most Accurate Forecast in Central Kentucky” by WeatheRate through his forecasting of cropping devastating flooding, record-shattering cold, violent tornadoes, and snowstorms.

His professional broadcast career began in “Song & Soul of the South,” at WMGT in Macon, Georgia, Where he worked as the Morning Meteorologist for several years before being promoted to the Chief Meteorologist which he served for years. However, he experienced hot summers, hurricanes, ice storms, and snow while in Georgia. Additionally, the historic April 27-28, 2011 tornado outbreak in the southeast.

Before joining WJBK in metro Detroit, he started my career working behind the scenes at WWJ-TV CBS Detroit through the Emma L. Bowen Foundation and he won a 5-year work/study scholarship with CBS News. Estime got the opportunity to work with meteorologists all over the country from New York, Chicago, Atlanta, and Detroit, including Jim Madaus, Ben Bailey, and yes, even Rich Luterman. Furthermore, he was honored by the EFB with its coveted “Outstanding Student of the Year” award in 2009.

He is an AMS Certified Broadcast Meteorologist through the American Meteorological Society, and also holds a membership with the National Weather Association. When he is not on air, he enjoys volunteering in the community, spending time with friends and family, playing the clarinet.
