Bustamante spent time volunteering at the now-closed Cabrini Convent for retired nuns in Radnor Township, Delaware County as a teenager at Cabrini High School New Orleans, in addition, it served as a nursing home for the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart.
Before joining NBC10, she served as the weekday morning and noon anchor at WVEC-TV in Norfolk, Virginia. Furthermore, she served as a daily weekday morning news anchor for La Selecta 103.3 at WVXX-FM, a Spanish language radio station.
Before that, she served as an evening anchor for WWL-TV in New Orleans, in addition, she worked alongside her co-workers for three months straight covering the devastation post-Hurricane Katrina.
