Kyle Hanson is a skilled American journalist currently working at WPMI-NBC 15. He joined the NBC 15 weather team in September of 2019. He comes to us from the West Texas town of El Paso, where he spent two years as a meteorologist for the ABC affiliate, KVIA.

Hanson’s passion for weather began at a very young age and spent his childhood chasing hurricanes and post-tropical storms along the New England Coast. Hanson was born and raised in Boston but has resided in the south since attending college at NC State.
Hanson learned how to forecast everything from snow storms to Hurricanes at NC State. He landed his first job as a meteorologist in El Paso where flash flooding and severe thunderstorms were (surprisingly) quite common for a desert climate.
Hanson is happy and thrilled to be back in a coastal climate as he loves spending time outdoors at the beach, fishing, and golfing. Tropical weather is also what originally sparked his interest in weather.
