Marler got his first taste of broadcasting when he interned at TV stations in Washington, D.C while still working on his masters. He landed his first job television job as the morning meteorologist at KBJR-News6 in Duluth – his very first trip to Minnesota despite making what he says was “the world’s worst resume tape”.
He is happily married to Susan whom he met and married at the University of Maryland, moved to the north. His skills as a meteorologist grew while in Duluth and he received the American Meteorological Society’s coveted Seal of Approval.
He moved back to the nation’s capital to be the weekend and noon meteorologist at WUSA in D.C after three years of cold, snow, and lutefisk. Keith and Susan decided to finally expand their family, but sadly their son was born prematurely and passed away from Trisomy-13 (a genetic disorder).

In addition, within days of Marler and Susan deciding a fresh start might be just what they needed, FOX 9 luckily called and asked “Hey…you want to come back to Minnesota?” So in 2003, the Marlers packed up their life and moved halfway across the country for the third time in six years.

In July 2020, he disclosed that he was dealing with issues in his inner ear that caused vertigo among other problems. As a result, he had to take some time off of work which was weeks turned into months. He said that it was a slow recovery with a couple of frustrating backtracks and occasional slowdowns.
