Henry started his broadcasting career in 1966 at KHVH-TV in Honolulu, where he served as a reporter and anchor. He also worked for NBC affiliate KENI-TV in Anchorage, Alaska, and NBC affiliate WMAQ-TV in Chicago. During his tenure there, he produced and hosted an on-air show titled, Your Army Neighbor, a community program featuring members of the military.

Additionally, to his role in local news, he worked as the executive producer and host of the Emmy award-winning “Travel Café,” a half-hour program that examines interesting places, cultures, and cuisines. Henry was the host and producer of the popular travel magazine program, “Eye on L. A” from 1984 to 1991. He has visited nearly every continent in the world as the host of these programs.

Popularly known for his versatility, Henry has been praised for both his hard news reports and his lighter stories. In October 2017, he covered Las Vegas to cover the worst mass shooting in modern history. He was one of the only television reporters allowed to visit and report from “the most bombed place on Earth,” the Nevada Test Site that was ground zero in America’s nuclear testing program.

Henry’s report on security weaknesses on the backside of the Los Angeles Airport prompted the City Council to hire expert security consultants from Israel to assess and fix the problems. Henry was the only reporter ever to be allowed into the secret Good Shepard Shelter and granted interviews with residents and managing staff, to reveal the plight of domestic violence victims.

In addition, he received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Television and Radio News Association and other awards include the Los Angeles Area Emmys, Golden Mikes, Los Angeles Press Club Awards, and a national Cable Ace Award for Best Host of a Series. Moreover, the features series “Rock ‘N Roll Treasure,” which highlighted an insider’s treasure trove of never before seen photos and memorabilia of rock icons landed Henry a Golden Mike, Los Angeles Press Club Award, and Los Angeles Emmy nomination. Henry’s 2009 body of work earned him the Los Angeles Emmy Award for Outstanding Feature Reporting, which he received from the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences in 2010.
