In 2013-2014 she covered the winter that was the second snowiest winter ever recorded, tracking almost 68 inches of snowfall at PhiladelphiaIntrenational Airport, and that was the most memorable weather event she covered.

She attended and graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles, and earned a bachelor’s degree in International Development Studies. In addition, she received a certificate in Broadcast Meteorology from Mississippi State University. Shipp is a two-time Emmy®-nominated journalist. She combined her passion for children’s education and meteorology, moreover, she wrote and published The Meteorologist in Me, the children’s book, and shared her book with over 35,000 students together with international audiences in Cuba and Australia.
